Sicrea Notes

Sicrea godefroyana (Baill.) H. Hallier

Malvaceae Info (Home)

Sicrea is a monotypic genus, related to Schoutenia, from Thailand and Cambodia. The sole species, Sicrea godefroyana (Baill.) H. Hallier, was originally described, in 1876 by Baillon, and transferred to Sicrea in 1921, by H. Hallier. The genus has traditionally been placed in Tiliaceae, which in current classifications of Malvaceae sensu APG would place it in Browlowioideae or Grewioideae. However, there is more recent opinion that both genera fall into the circumscription of Dombeyoideae.
