Some varying forms as to foliage are distributed under these numbers; under one of there are a few specimens of the var. dissecta, or of forms that evidently connect the Sida dissecta of Nuttall with the S. coccinea. I have for several years cultivated this species, from seeds brought from the Upper Missouri by Mr. Sprague, and has ascertained that its radicle is inferior, as in Malva. — An account of the genus, of which this is one of the typical species, is given in the subjoined revision of the genera allied to Malva.
